Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a program called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. Our hotels are engaged with both local and international charity groups.

Our Responsible Business Policy

• We shall educate and facilitate for our employees to make a conscious decision in favor of environmental, ethical and social issues in their private and work lives.
• We shall inform and make it easy for our guests to participate in Responsible Business related activities at our hotels.
• We shall work together with property owners to find innovative solutions that satisfy our economic, environmental and social objectives.
• We shall provide shareholders and investors with timely, accurate and transparent information on responsible business related risks and opportunities.
• We shall strive to purchase products that have a reduced environmental impact during their life-cycle, from suppliers that demonstrate environmental and social responsibility.
• We require our managers to abide by local and international legislation, especially regarding labor laws, health and safety, human rights and the environment.
• We shall take an active role in the international responsible business community, and contribute to the local communities where we operate.
• We shall do our utmost to continuously improve our performance in the areas of energy, water, chemicals and resource consumption, and waste generation in order to reduce our negative impact on the environment.

Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of the Radisson Blu Astorija Hotel Vilnius:

Activities in 2009

• JCI project "See Your Dream" - We presented our company on a special forum that helps blind people to start the professional career of there dream. Ilona our HR manager presented our hotel on the 24th of April and in September we have a follow up visit of 4 interested participants in opportunities in the hotel business.
• In April we supported the Adamkiene Fund for underprivileged kids in Lithuania with Conference space and we are collecting donations for and supporting UNICEF in Lithuania.
• In April we also participated in the Earth Day, Earth Hour switching off lights in the hotel. http://www.earthday.net/
• In August Rotary Camp, we support a summer camp for 60 Lithuanian Foster Home kids organize by the International Rotary Club, Vilnius. We organize food and catering equipment and help cooking in the camp. We participate with staff members and help to purchase the food. We also sponsor the final day with a cake for all the kids.
• In September as part of our Environmental Action Month we donated blood for Lithuanian hospitals to the Lithuanian Blood Center
